IMD issued alert for rain and snowfall in severe cold, same situation from North to South India

Amidst the harsh winter in Rajasthan, light rain is expected in some areas this week. According to the Meteorological Department, a new western disturbance is becoming active on 21-22 January, due to which there is a possibility of light rain at some places.

Rainfall Update: Cold wave continues in North India. Dense fog and cold winds have affected life a lot. On top of that, rain in different parts has increased the difficulties even more. The Meteorological Department says that there is no hope of relief from cold and rain at the moment. Most areas of Delhi-NCR were covered in dense fog on Monday morning, due to which people are facing a lot of trouble in traffic. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted the maximum temperature on Monday to be around 24 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature to be around 11 degrees Celsius. On Sunday, Delhi’s maximum temperature was recorded at 26.1 degrees Celsius, 6.5 degrees above normal. The minimum temperature was 9.1 degrees Celsius, which is 1.6 degrees above the season’s average. The Air Quality Index (AQI) of the national capital reached 362 at 6 pm, which falls in the very poor category.

Amidst the severe cold in Rajasthan, light rain is expected in some areas this week. According to the Meteorological Department, a new western disturbance is becoming active on January 21-22, due to which light rain is expected at some places in the northwestern and northeastern parts of the state. In the last 24 hours, the lowest minimum temperature in the state was recorded in Alwar at 7.2 degrees Celsius. Apart from this, the minimum temperature in Ganganagar and Karauli was 7.7 degrees, Jaisalmer 7.9 degrees, Sangaria 8.8 degrees, Chittorgarh 9.2 degrees, Pilani and Kota 9.5 degrees Celsius.

How is the weather in UP and Bihar

It is getting very cold in Uttar Pradesh. The Meteorological Department says that on Monday, the movement of dark clouds will be seen again in the sky. Light rain may occur in some areas. Also, strong winds are also expected. The IMD has predicted rain for 2 days this week. The outbreak of fog is being seen in the morning today. On the other hand, light to moderate fog prevailed in the capital Patna and other areas of Bihar this morning. Dense fog is being seen in the Himalayan foothills. According to the weather department, the minimum temperature will increase by 2-3 degrees Celsius in the next 48 hours. This may provide some relief to people from the cold at night. The weather remained dry during the last 24 hours. The average maximum temperature of the state was recorded at 23.8 and the average minimum temperature was 9.9 degrees Celsius.

Cold wave continues in Punjab and Haryana, fog at many places

Cold wave continues in Punjab and Haryana on Sunday and fog prevails at many places in both the states. The Meteorological Department said that Amritsar was the coldest place, where the minimum temperature was recorded at 4.8 degrees Celsius. The temperature in Bathinda was 6.6 degrees Celsius. In Punjab, the minimum temperature of Ludhiana was 8.4 degrees Celsius, two degrees above normal. The minimum temperature in Patiala was recorded at 9.4 degrees Celsius, two degrees above normal. The Meteorological Officer said that the minimum temperature in Chandigarh, the common capital of both the states, was recorded at 8.9 degrees Celsius, 1 degree above normal. The minimum temperature in Ambala, Haryana was 10.4 degrees Celsius and Faridabad was 10.2 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature in Narnaul was 9.5 degrees Celsius, Hisar 9 degrees Celsius and Sirsa 8.6 degrees Celsius.

Rain and snowfall forecast in Himachal Pradesh today

The minimum temperature was recorded 3-6 degrees Celsius above normal at most places in Himachal Pradesh, bringing relief from the harsh cold in the state. However, despite the weather being dry, there was no significant change in the maximum temperature. The sky remained partly cloudy in Shimla and its surrounding areas and there was no change in the day temperature. The Meteorological Department has forecast light fog at some places between Monday morning. The local weather center has predicted rain and snowfall at some places in the high mountains on Monday and Tuesday. Light to moderate snowfall is expected at some places on Wednesday and light to moderate snowfall at many places on Thursday.

Rain and snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir from Monday

There are chances of rain and snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir for three days from Monday. The Meteorological Department said that the weather will remain dry in the plains and light rain or snowfall is expected in the high areas. Light snowfall is expected at different places in the state during January 20 and 21. Light rains are likely over plains of Jammu and light to moderate rains and snowfall at many places is likely over plains of Jammu on January 22. Light to moderate snowfall is also likely over higher reaches of Chenab Valley and Pir Panjal Range. Light to moderate rains and snowfall at many places is likely over plains of Jammu on January 23. Night temperatures have risen at many stations but Kashmir Valley is still witnessing sub-zero temperatures. Gulmarg recorded a minimum temperature of minus 7.8 degrees Celsius against the normal of minus 8.2 degrees Celsius, the coldest place in the Valley. The famous ski resort of Gulmarg in Baramulla district of north Kashmir recorded a day temperature 2.4 degrees Celsius above normal.

Unseasonal rains in Bengaluru have caused havoc

Rain in Karnataka’s capital Bengaluru has surprised people. The India Meteorological Department has forecast rain not only in the state capital but also in the interiors of South Karnataka and Malnad regions. The Karnataka Natural Disaster Management Center issued a rain warning in the state on Thursday. It said, ‘Sporadic moderate rains occurred in the interior, coastal and hill districts of the southern part of the state. Dry winds are likely in the northern interior districts. The state will have moderate to dense fog and sporadic rains.’ Areas like MG Road, Jayanagar, Hebbal, Sultanpalya, RT Nagar and RR Nagar received light rain on Sunday. The reason for the unexpected rain in Bengaluru is believed to be the cyclone formed on the east coast of Sri Lanka and the southwest of the Bay of Bengal. This development had an impact on many districts of Karnataka, including Bengaluru. The Meteorological Center has forecast light rain in Bengaluru during the next 48 hours.
