Gorakhpur: The dream of a modern greenfield expressway from Gorakhpur to Panipat is soon going to become a reality. The National Highways Authority of India has selected a Delhi-based ICT firm as consultant for this ambitious project. This firm will not only prepare the DPR of the project, but will also do the demarcation of the land. This expressway will start from Gorakhpur district, which will cover up to Panipat, the industrial district of Haryana. After the completion of the expressway, there will be a lot of saving in travel time. The journey from Gorakhpur to Haridwar will be completed in just 8 hours.
This expressway, about 750 km long, will go from Gorakhpur to Panipat in Haryana via Shamli and will connect 22 districts. This expressway will go to Panipat via Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Siddharth Nagar, Balrampur, Bahraich, Lucknow, Sitapur, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Badaun, Rampur, Moradabad, Bareilly, Sambhal, Bijnor, Amroha, Meerut, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Shamli. Initially it was limited from Gorakhpur to Shamli, but now it has been extended to Haryana’s industrial city Panipat.

According to senior NHI officials, the project will be completed in several phases. The Delhi-based ICT firm will not only estimate the cost but will also select contractors for the construction. The tender process for the construction work will begin after the DPR, and the selected firms will have to complete the project within three years.
