FIITJEE coaching centers closed in these states, know the whole matter

At least 8 FIITJEE coaching centres in North India have been suddenly shut down. Due to this, hundreds of students and their parents are in trouble.

FIITJEE coaching centers closed: Hundreds of students and their parents are in trouble due to the sudden closure of many FIITJEE coaching centers in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, MP and Delhi. According to reports, at least 8 FIITJEE coaching centers have been closed in North India since last week. The students studying here are angry due to the closure of coaching centers in the middle of engineering entrance exam JEE Main and before board exams. Angry students and parents have lodged a complaint with the police demanding a refund of fees. These students preparing for engineering entrance exam JEE Main had deposited an advance fee of Rs 4 to 5 lakh.

Officials said that due to non-payment of salary, many teachers left the job together, after which the decision to close the coaching center was taken. The administrative head of a branch of FIITJEE said on the condition of anonymity, ‘The financial condition of the institute was bad for a long time, salary was not being paid on time. In such a situation, many teachers got offers from other places and people joined the job there.’

FIITJEE coaching centre’s branch closed here

FIITJEE coaching centre’s branches have been closed in cities like Noida, Ghaziabad, Lucknow, Varanasi, Patna, Meerut and Bhopal. A FIITJEE branch in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh was recently shut down. According to officials, the centre’s administration initially tried to arrange teachers from Noida but it lasted only for a few days. After this, they had to shut down the institute. Many parents have filed a complaint with the police alleging that the private coaching institute did not give them any notice and did not return their money. There are many videos and photos on the internet in which parents are shown protesting outside the now closed branch of the institute.

A parent of a student studying in a FIITJEE institute in Meerut said, ‘About six months ago, many FIITJEE coaching institutes were closed in some states. After this, they told us that these coaching centres will not be closed. These centres are in profit and keep paying the fees. I have already paid a fee of Rs 6 lakh. They took everyone’s money and told us that the classes will continue. Even when the teachers left, they said that we will still manage.’

Speaking to a TV channel, parents said that the sudden closure of coaching institutes in the middle of exams has reduced the confidence of the children. They are studying for 18-18 hours.

According to the report, the FIITJEE coaching branch located at Kalu Sarai near IIT Delhi has also been shut down. It is being said that the teachers here were not getting salaries, so the classes were disrupted after they left the job.

HT also reached the FIITJEE head office in Kalu Sarai, Delhi. However, the security guards said that the management staff has not come to the center for five days. Apart from this, calls made to the phone numbers given on the FIITJEE website and emails sent to its official mail ID did not receive any response till the time of going to press.

The branch in Laxmi Nagar in Delhi is also locked.

Case registered in Patna too

In Patna too, students have alleged that FIITJEE closed the coaching centers after taking a hefty fee. Angry students have lodged their complaint in Patna’s Kotwali police station. A case has been registered in the police station against FIITJEE director DK Goyal, CFO Manish Anand, center head Rajiv Babbar and RK Thakur. A case of fraud has been registered against all of them.

Noida

On Thursday, a Noida police officer said that many branches of coaching centres have been closed. He said that the reason behind this is that the institute is facing financial crisis and violation of licensing and fire safety rules. Parents created a ruckus at Fitjee Coaching Centre located in Sector-62 on Wednesday evening. Parents allege that the coaching centre operator has absconded after collecting the entire fees and closing the centre. For this, a message was sent to the parents by Sanjeev Jha, the operational head of the coaching centre, late on Tuesday evening. A complaint has been lodged in Sector-58 police station.

Ghaziabad

Last week, the FIITJEE coaching centre in Rajnagar district centre shut down. The centre had charged Rs 3.5 lakh to Rs 5 lakh as advance fees from each of its 800 students. Students from classes 9 to 12 were preparing for engineering entrance exams by studying at the centre. Manish Gupta, a resident of Shastri Nagar area, whose son studying in class 11 was also taking coaching from the centre. He said that lectures were not being held regularly for the past few months. He told TOI, “I paid Rs 4 lakh as fees for four years. But the management has been cancelling classes continuously for the past three months. This has badly affected my son’s JEE Main preparation. When I went to the coaching centre last Friday, I found that some teachers were leaving the school due to non-payment of salaries.”

HR Kapoor, who had enrolled both his children in the coaching centre last year, shared similar concerns. He said, “We had paid Rs 3.5 lakh as advance fees. But for the last three months, classes are held sometimes and sometimes not.’

Ghaziabad District School Inspector Dharmendra Sharma said, ‘After the instructions of the Additional District Magistrate (Administration), our department’s team checked the documents and found that there is no registration of FIITJEE centre at the given address. This is a clear violation of the UP Coaching Regulation Act, 2002.’ At the same time, in the complaint lodged by the Education Department in Kavinagar police station, it is said, ‘It is clear from the investigation that the people running the coaching cheated the parents/children and collected fees from them. Please register an FIR and take legal action against them.’ After this, an FIR was registered against four senior officials of the center, Chairperson Dinesh Chand Goyal, Chief Operating Officer Manish Anand, Group Financial Officer Rajiv Babbar and Center Incharge Ashish Gupta.

IIT Delhi graduate DK Goyal founded FIITJEE in 1992 to provide coaching for IIT, NIT entrance and Science Olympiad exams to children from class 6 to 12.
