FASTag Update: There is great relief news about FASTag. Now you will be able to get FASTag installed in your trains by 15 February.
NHAI has taken this decision in view of the problems faced by people in getting FASTag. First, it was announced to make FASTag compulsory in trains from January 1, 2021 to pay toll on all national highways passing through the country.
FASTag deadline extended until 15 February 2021
NHAI announced that from 1 January 2021, all the NHAI toll plazas in the country will be converted into FASTag lanes instead of cash. If anyone reaches the toll plaza without FASTag, they will have to pay double the toll. But now people have got an extension of one and a half months to take and install FASTag.
Government advised NHAI
Currently, collection from toll plaza through FASTag is 75-80%. The Ministry of Roads and Transport suggested to NHAI that they take all necessary approvals for 100% cashless collection and implement it from February 15.
There are two types of FASTag
There are two types of FASTag. One is tagged with NHAI and the other is taken from banks. FASTag comes pre-fitted in all the vehicles that have been purchased since December 1, 2017. If you have bought a car before this, then you have to buy FASTag separately.
NHAI ‘My FASTag App’
Through this app you can buy FASTag for your car. For this you do not need any KYC. NHAI has recently added a new feature of ‘Check balance status’ to it. ‘My FASTag App’ is a bank neutral app, that is, it does not have a link with any government or private bank. You can recharge it through UPI or Net Banking.
FASTags of banks
You can also buy FASTags from banks and paste them into your car and recharge it. 22 banks have been added for this work. ICICI Bank has tied up with Google Pay for FASTags. That is, if you have Google Pay, then you will be able to buy FASTags from ICICI Bank and can also recharge. For this you will not need to go to the bank or go to the toll plaza.
