As of 1 January 2021, non-subsidized liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices remained unchanged at current levels, after two combined hikes of Rs 100 per cylinder for each of the four metros. As of 1 January, the price of non-subsidized LPG in Delhi and Mumbai remained at Rs 694 per cylinder (14.2 kg), as per the Indian Oil Corporation’s portal -iocl.com. The primary fuel retailer in the nation, Indian Oil, supplies LPG under the Indane label. The prices of non-subsidized LPG cylinders are usually checked on a monthly basis and any revisions are made on the first day of each month. Because of local taxes, cooking gas prices differ in various parts of the country.

Non-subsidized LPG is reportedly the most expensive of the four metros in Kolkata, where a customer spends Rs 720.50 for each refill. The cost is Rs 694 per cylinder both in Delhi and Mumbai, and Rs 610 per cylinder in Chennai. At present, 12 cylinders of 14.2 kilogrammes each per family are subsidised annually by the government. Any further purchases of LPG cylinders at the retail price must be done by the buyer. The amount of government subsidy provided for the annual limit of 12 refills ranges from month to month. Considerations such as crude oil and foreign exchange prices broadly decide the subsidy.
