In the year 2017, Megha Arora topped the UPSC CSE examination with 108 rank in the third attempt. Let us know what changes Megha got by changing the strategy.
Success Story of IAS Topper Megha Arora:
Megha Arora saw repeated failure in the first phase of UPSC CSE exam but was not disappointed. Every time I stood up and tried with double preparation and did not stop until his selection was finalized. Since Megha failed twice in the pre exam, she considers it the most difficult of the three stages of UPSC and asks the candidates to focus on this stage the most. What did Megha make of the mistakes and how did she overcome them, she shared all this in the interview given to the Delhi Knowledge Track. Learn in detail.
Parents are both civil servants –
Megha’s father was the DGP of Punjab at the time of his selection and during his time was selected for the post of IPS in the Civil Services Examination. Similarly, Megha’s mother was selected for IRS service. That is, Megha has been among the civil servants since childhood and she has seen the nuances of this work very closely. It is obvious that his inclination was on this side, but he completed his studies first.
After school education, both Megha’s graduation and post-graduation took place from abroad. He has mastered in International Relations from University of London. After this, Megha came to India to prepare for UPSC exam. Her vision was always clear that she wanted to represent India internationally by choosing Indian Foreign Services. Stuck in pre in first two attempts –
Megha came to India and focused on preparing for a full-fledged exam and also joined a coaching. However, within two months, he quit coaching and took full care of self study. He felt that there is a lot of crowd in coaching and nobody pays personal attention to you. So if you can study with self study by keeping yourself Motivated and you do not fall into the category that needs a push to talk, then there is a better option to pass the Self Study Examination. However, it is a personal choice of anyone whether he wants to do coaching or not.
Megha gave the candidates for the year 2014 and 2015 and could not pass the pre exam. However, she was not disappointed by this and took a break for a year. In the year 2017, she gave a third attempt and cleared all three stages and became a straight topper.
What does the experience of Megha say?
Megha says that her mistake was that she did not do the revision properly, her time management was not good and in many places she was destined to be avoided. He judged himself and took away his mistakes and overcome them. It is a big thing to know where you are lacking. For Pre, Megha revisited less books frequently and gave a lot of mock tests when she passed the exam. He also corrected the mistakes of these tests and focused heavily on time management. She says this stage is the most dicey, so pay full attention to it.
As far as men are concerned, Megha seemed to have essays and ethics as her strong areas, so she added value to it so that she could get numbers. Similarly, she was not good at geography, so tried to overcome the lack of this topic by getting more marks in other subjects. Look at the previous year’s papers to see how questions are asked and proceed with a balanced approach. Initially, he studied for 6 to 7 hours a day and then as the examination passed these hours were increased.
In the end, Megha says that during the whole preparation, there was not a single gadget in her room so that her mind wanders, so remove the things which will destroy you. Make the goals of studies realistic because it is a long journey where more than hours of study is required. Stay away from the rest of the negative people, ie those people who tell you that you will not and prepare with positive attitude will definitely get success.
