Happiness for millions of Indian women from the US, H-4 visa holders work order withdrawn

Within a week of assuming the office of the US President, Joe Biden has given good news to Indian women. Biden withdrew an order from the Donald Trump regime that prohibited H4 visas allowing H-1B visa holders’ spouse to work. Most of them are highly skilled Indian women. H-4 visas are issued to spouses of H-1B visa holders or children over 21 years of age.

A large number of high-skill H-1B visa holders are Indians. The H-1B visa is a non-immigrant visa that allows US companies to employ foreign workers for certain occupations where theoretical or technical expertise is required. Technology companies depend on this visa to hire thousands of employees every year from countries like India and China. H-4 visas are usually issued to those who have already started the process of obtaining permanent employment-based permanent status in the US.

In 2017, Trump announced its cancellation

The US Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) said on Monday that the rules issued in this regard have been withdrawn. During the tenure of former US President Barack Obama, the spouse of H-1B visa holders was allowed employment. The Trump administration announced the repeal of this rule in 2017, soon after coming to power. However, the Trump-led Trump administration could not complete the process in four years of its rule. During the presidential election campaign, Biden promised to withdraw this decision of the Trump administration.

Obama Administration Approves Work for H4 Visa Holders

In 2015, Barack Obama allowed H4 visa holders to work in the US. This visa is issued to the spouses (spouses) of non-resident working in the US as Skilled Labor Forces, who are issued H-1B visas. During the issuance of H4 visa, it was said that this is a step towards gender equality, as 95 percent of them are women.
