The Union Government failed to win the trust of farmers with the general budget. Most of the farmers described the announcements made to the farmers in the budget 2021-22 as inadequate and said that the difference between the government’s actions and actions has once again been revealed.
He also claims that the government has failed to touch even the basic issues on which the farmers of the entire country are on the streets today.
Struggling peasant leaders on the Delhi border described the general budget as ‘zero budget’ for farmers. In the case of doubling income, the farmers say that the completion of the claim of doubling the income from farming is not visible in this budget.
Yogendra Yadav, member of the Samyukta Kisan Sangharsh Samiti, said – the government has cut the farm produce up to six thousand crores. He said that it has been reduced to one lakh 48 thousand this year by a reduction of six thousand crore rupees compared to one lakh 54 thousand last year.
A reduction of Rs 10 thousand crore has also been proposed in the PM Kisan Fund. Last year this allocation was 75 thousand crores which has been reduced to 65 thousand crores this year. He said – the agricultural budget has come down from 5.3 percent to 4.3 percent of the total budget.
Avik Saha, a member of Jai Kisan Movement leader, Jangal Sangharsh Samiti, said that the government spent more than one lakh 75 thousand crores in MNREGA last year. Even then the allocation in this item was less but due to the Kovid the government had to increase the expenditure on it. Despite this, in the general budget this year, the expenditure of only 73 thousand crores has been said, which is unfair. Farmer leaders say that the MNREGA is the backbone of the rural economy, with the last people attached to it, it should be at least double.
The government did not give any firm assurance that the entire crop would be procured at the MSP, which has hurt farmers leaders a lot. Member of All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee, Dr. Sunilam said that the biggest demand of the farmers was that the government should announce the complete purchase of all crops at minimum support price.
