Finance Minister said this in the budget- Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has proposed to impose form cess on petrol and diesel in the budget. During the budget speech, he has imposed cess of Rs 2.5 per liter on petrol and Rs 4 per liter on diesel. However, the rates of Basic Excise Duty (BED) and Special Additional Excise Duty (SAED) have been reduced so as not to impose additional burden on the general consumer.

Petrol and diesel prices in four metros
- >> According to the rates released on the IOC website, the price of petrol in Delhi has come to Rs 86.30 per liter. At the same time, the price of diesel has fallen to Rs 76.48 per liter.
- >> The price of one liter of petrol in Mumbai is Rs 92.86 per liter. Also, the price of diesel is Rs 83.30 per liter. Apart from this, petrol in Kolkata is Rs 87.69 per liter, diesel is 80.08 per liter.
- >> Petrol price has come down to Rs 88.82 per liter in Chennai, the major city of South India. Apart from this, the price of diesel is Rs 81.71 per liter.
Let us know that the prices of petrol and diesel are fixed daily. At 6 am, the new price of petrol and diesel comes into force. After adding excise duty, dealer commission to their price, its price almost doubles.
