This sequence of the railway to create records is going on continuously. Recently, Vasuki, a 3.5 km long 295-coach train with five engines, was successfully operated. Now, in the coming few years, Railways is preparing to achieve more major successes. This is reflected in the budget presented on Monday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government may also end dependence on petrol for the operation of trains in future. It may be surprising to know, but the preparation of the Indian Railways is similar. A record 1.1 lakh crore for the railways
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has approved a record amount of Rs 1,10,055 crore for Indian Railways. Of this, Rs 1,07,100 crore will be given for capital investment. In fact, Indian Railways has prepared the National Rail Scheme for India -2030, through which the Indian Railways system will be prepared to meet the future needs by the year 2030.
Important steps for passenger comfort and safety
The Finance Minister has announced several measures for the safety and convenience of railway passengers. Under this, Vistaadom LHB coaches with modern facilities will be installed in trains to provide a better travel experience to the passengers on the tourist routes in the country.
An indigenously developed rail security system will be used to provide comfort to passengers on highly busy and over-used railways and to minimize loss of life and property in rail accidents.
Now the matter of that plan of the railway, through which the dependence of trains on petrol engines will end.
Plan: 100 percent electrification on broad gauge
In the budget, there has been talk of 100 percent electrification of broad gauge i.e. big line railways. By the end of this year, the electrification of 72 percent broad gauge route will be completed. That is, the electrification of a total of 46 thousand kilometers of railway line will be completed. Explain that by October 1, 2020, electrification of 41,548 km broad gauge route has been completed.
According to the announcement made in the budget, by December 2023, the broad gauge railroads will be electrified 100 percent. That is, after this the dependence on petrol or diesel engines for the operation of trains will end. 100 percent trains will run on electricity on the big line across the country.
Goods will be run under PPP mode
The Finance Minister said that to help our industry in promoting the ‘Make in India’ initiative, the cost of freight will be reduced. The Finance Minister said that by June 2022, the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) and the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor will begin.
The Sonanagar-Gomoh section (263.7 km) of the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor will be started by 2021-22 under PPP mode ie Public Private Partnership. With this, the Gomoh-Dankuni section of 274.3 km will also start after some time.
Many more dedicated freight corridors dedicated to the future will be started. Of these, the eastern coastal corridor will go from Kharagpur to Vijayawada, the east-western corridor from Bhusaval to Dankuni via Kharagpur and the northern-southern corridor from Itarsi to Vijayawada.
