Farmers Income: Know how much farmers of India earn daily amid international debate?

Farmers Income: The average income of farmers in Bihar is much lower than MNREGA wages. What is the condition of Uttar Pradesh and other states?

The farmer agitation has been going on for 72 days against the new agricultural laws. Both the farmers’ organization and the government are calling themselves the biggest benefactors of the feeders. Meanwhile, farmers of India have become the center of international debate with the movement support of Greta Thanberg, who works for the environment and pop star Rihanna. The whole battle is tied to the pockets of farmers, how they will be financially prosperous. In such a situation, it is very important for you to know that what is the income of farmers in India? According to the latest data released by the Ministry of Agriculture regarding the income of the donors, the farmers of India earn an average of only 264.94 rupees per day.

Average income of farmers in U.P.

Do you and the nobles who are engaged in the Twitter war on the issue of farmers know about this? In Bihar under Good Governance Babu, the farmer earns less than the MNREGA laborers daily. The average daily income of farmers here is just 125 rupees. Whereas in this state, MNREGA workers get Rs 194.00 per day. In Uttar Pradesh, the farmer earns an average of Rs 216.36 per day. Whereas the minimum wage of unskilled workers is also much higher than this at Rs 336.85.

Who is responsible for this plight of farmers? What work has the present government done to overcome this situation? Both can be the subject of debate. But this is the truth of the farmers whose names are being politicized on both sides. Prime Minister Narendra Modi (Narendra Modi) talks about increasing income of farmers in almost every program. From the beginning, his focus is on advancing both agriculture and farmers. But till now the result is not visible.

Just one year to fulfill the promise

Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially spoke of doubling farmers’ income during a rally in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh for the first time on 28 February 2016. It was said that in the coming 2022, when the country will be celebrating the 75th anniversary of its independence, the income of farmers will have doubled. After this, on April 13, 2016, the Doubling Farmers Income Committee (DFI-Doubling farmers income committee) was formed under the leadership of Dr. Ashok Dalwai, a 1984 batch IAS officer.

The committee submitted its report to the government in September 2018. That is why the government made 2015-16 the base year to double the income of farmers. Now the government has only one year to fulfill this promise.

No survey for 7 years to know farmers income

This promise is to be completed for 5 years. But so far, the income of the donors is not doubling. The government has not yet conducted any new survey to know the income. According to Union Minister of State for Agriculture Purushottam Rupala, “The National Sample Survey Organization (NSSO) conducted the survey in (2012–13). In this, the average monthly income per agricultural family was estimated at Rs 6426.

However, the committee, which presented a report on doubling the income of farmers by 2022, expanded the survey results for the year 2012-13 on 2015-16 prices to 2015-16, showing that the farmer income of 96,703 per year It is Rs. ”

How will income double on such agricultural growth?

NITI Aayog in its Strategy for New India (75) report, prepared in 2018, states that the country has 22 years (1993-1994 to 2015-2016) in doubling farmers’ income at an annual growth of 3.31 percent. Began Accordingly, to double the income of farmers from 2015-16 to 2022-23, a 10.4 percent annual growth rate in real income would be required.

Some agricultural economists also believe that the agriculture sector should grow by at least 10 per cent annually on average to double the income of farmers by 2022. While we are not able to achieve even the average target of 5 percent per annum. However, Dr. Ashok Dalwai, chairman of the Doubling Farmers’ Income Committee, had told us recently that the government is working in the right direction. This will increase the income of farmers. We will achieve this target by 2022.
