Health Insurance: Now mosquito-borne diseases will also get the benefit of health insurance, plan will start soon

Health Insurance: There is a good news for people suffering from diseases caused by mosquito bites in the country. Now mosquito-borne diseases will also be covered under health insurance. According to an order issued by Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDA), from 1 April 2021, people will get the benefit of health insurance on diseases caused by mosquito bites.




According to the media reports, these diseases include malaria, dengue, chikungunya and zika fever etc. For this, insurance companies have to present a simple health insurance policy.

The policy will be issued in the name of Mashak Rakshak

According to the media’s news, this health insurance policy will be issued in the name of Mashak Rakshak. According to the news, under the Mashak Rakshak Insurance Policy, the policy holder will be given a maximum sum assured between Rs 10,000 and Rs 2 lakh. The Insurance Regulatory Development Authority has issued guidelines regarding the Mashak Rakshak Policy. IRDA has instructed all general and health insurance companies to provide the Mashraq Rakshak policy to the customers from April 1, 2021.

The policy will remain valid for 12 months

The insurance regulator says that for the treatment of mosquito-borne diseases, a special insurance product is needed today. The duration of the Mashak Rakshak Health Policy will be 12 months and it can be renewed by paying the premium after a period of 12 months.

The plan will be uniform in all areas

The insurance regulator states that insurance companies will be allowed to fix premium as per their valuation, but the scheme should be uniform for all geographical areas and no premium will be allowed to be fixed based on any location or region. Explain that the insurance regulator had drafted the guidelines for the Mashak Rakshak Policy in November 2020 and sought his opinion from all stakeholders.
