Cases of online fraud are on the rise in the country. As the number of cyber crime cases is increasing, SBI, the country’s largest bank, is alerting its customers from time to time. SBI has also suggested measures to avoid some such scams.
New Delhi, Feb 6: State Bank of India (SBI), the country’s largest bank, has warned its customers. The bank has refused to allow customers to do anything that would cause them to incur losses. Cases of online fraud and cyber crime have been on the rise in the country since time immemorial. The bank and the government are issuing timely alerts to prevent these scams. The bank warns its more than 40 crore customers through its official Twitter handle or messaging and also suggests ways to avoid it.
The bank has instructed SBI customers that ATM transactions should be conducted in complete confidentiality to avoid banking fraud. Withdrawing cash from an ATM is easy and convenient, but there are also reports of fraud from time to time. In such a situation, it is very important to use a debit or ATM card safely and be careful while transacting through an ATM.
Remember these things to avoid online fraudNever keep your mobile phone unlocked at ATMs or public places
-Do not continue apps or connections that are not in use in mobile.
Do not connect your mobile phone to unknown and passwordless networks
-Do not write sensitive information like password, username in mobile
-Avoid transferring data from one phone to another if possible due to fear of viruses
What to do if you fall victim to fraud?
SBI has informed its customers that if they fall victim to any such scam, they can lodge a complaint on the government’s National Crime Reporting Portal.
