Punjab Finance Minister Badal on Monday presented the state’s budget of Rs 1,68,015 crore for the financial year 2021-22. The Punjab government will give 51,000 rupees on the daughter’s wedding under the Shagun Scheme in the budget.
On the occasion of International Women’s Day 2021, the Punjab government has made a big announcement for daughters. The Punjab government announced in the budget that now the government will give an omen of 51,000 rupees on the daughter’s marriage. Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal announced this while presenting the budget. He said, the government also proposed to increase the amount given under the Shagun Scheme from Rs 21,000 to Rs 51,000.

This is the last budget of the tenure of the Chief Minister Amarinder Singh government. Elections are to be held in the state early next year.
Increase in pension of the elderly
Finance Minister Manpreet Simb Badal gave big relief to the elderly pensioners in the budget. He announced to increase the old age pension from Rs 750 to Rs 1,500 per month. Apart from this, the government also announced an increase in the monthly pension of freedom fighters. He said that from April 1, the monthly pension of the freedom fighters of the state will be increased from Rs 7,500 to Rs 9,400 per month.
51 thousand rupees will be received under the Shugan scheme
The Punjab government also announced to increase the amount given under the Shagun scheme from Rs 21,000 to Rs 51,000. Under this scheme, omen is given for the marriage of the daughters of the workers.
Government will forgive farmers loans
Apart from this, the Punjab government made a big announcement for the farmers in the budget. Finance Minister Badal announced the loan waiver of farmers. In the budget speech, the Finance Minister said, the Punjab government will waive agricultural loans worth Rs 1,186 crore for 1.13 lakh farmers and Rs 526 crore for landless farmers in 2021-22.
