Now it will be easier for the customers to get a new mobile connection. Customers can now apply for a new mobile connection online and the SIM card will be delivered to their doorstep. Customers can verify themselves for this with Aadhaar or any other document stored in DigiLocker.

A recent order by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) states that an app/portal has been developed to issue mobile connections to customers, through which customers can apply for mobile connections sitting at home/office. Telecom service providers will have to issue mobile SIM by doing e-KYC through electronic Aadhaar.

What is the process to get a mobile phone sim: If one wants to get a new mobile connection then he/she has to register through the app from the mobile number of any member of his/her family. The phone number will be verified through OTP. After this a new SIM will be sent to the entered address.




How to get home mobile phone sim using Aadhar card: As per the new rules, the customers need to go through the process of authentication through UIDAI’s Aadhaar based e-KYC service to get a new mobile connection. Will have to pay Rs.

Whether mobile connections are convertible: The government has issued an order allowing conversion of prepaid to postpaid using a one-time password (OTP) based process. The process of online application will be available only one mobile connection per day.
