Aadhaar Card Update: This is the right time if you want to change or update name, address, date of birth in Aadhaar card. According to Unique Identification Authority of India, this service will be available for free till June 14.
Name, address, date of birth can be changed or updated on the official website of UIDAI.
The central government has advised Indian residents to update their Aadhaar for free through the ‘My Aadhaar’ portal. This can also be done through physical Aadhaar centers across the country. But there is a minimum fee to be paid for this.
How to Update Aadhaar Free from MyAadhaar Portal: UIDAI advised Indian citizens to update Aadhaar card.
Aadhaar card update is mandatory especially if the ID was created 10 years ago and has not been updated even once in 10 years. Incidentally, new documents need to be uploaded on the portal to update the Aadhaar information.
- First login to MyAadhaar portal. It requires Aadhaar number and registered mobile number. Then scroll down and click on the ‘Document Update’ tab.
- Check the current details here and click on the next hyperlink.
- Now it is time to select identity proof and address proof. Scanned copy of updated information can be uploaded here. The list of recognized documents is given on the website itself.
- 14 digit update request number will be given. Update status can be viewed with this number.
- Once the information is updated, the updated version of Aadhaar card will be available. After downloading it, take a print out.
As mentioned earlier, Indian citizens can get this service absolutely free on the MyAadhaar portal. Experts say this will allow the government to stay up-to-date on registered citizens.
Along with this, the updated population information will also be available to the government. The service will also be available from registered Aadhaar centers across the country. But in that case it will cost 50 rupees.
