Aadhaar Card: Update! There are four types of Aadhaar card, know the features and how to apply

Types of Aadhaar Card: Aadhaar cards can be made in four formats. Aadhaar Letter, Aadhaar PVC Card, E Aadhaar and M Aadhaar. m Aadhaar is a mobile app created by UIDAI. mAadhaar can be downloaded without any charge. Whereas, E-Aadhaar is the electronic form of Aadhaar.

Aadhaar Card: It has become the biggest need of every Indian. Aadhaar card is used in many government and private works. Aadhaar card contains a verifiable 12 digit identification number issued by UIDAI for Indian citizens. There are 4 types of Aadhaar cards. That is, you can get your Aadhaar card made in four formats. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has developed these formats for the convenience of the people. According to the UIDAI website, all these formats of Aadhaar card are valid. Let’s know about them.

1. Aadhaar letter

It is a paper-based laminated letter. It contains a secure QR code with date of issue and date of print. Whether to make a new Aadhaar or to get necessary biometric updates done in it, this Aadhaar letter is free of cost. It is sent through post. If your original Aadhaar card is lost or damaged, you can get a new one. For this, you can order replacement of Aadhaar letter online from UIDAI website with a fee of Rs.50.

2. Aadhaar PVC Card

Aadhaar PVC cards are made of PVC material. These Aadhaar cards are lightweight and durable. These include a number of security elements, a digitally signed Aadhaar secure QR code, a photograph and demographic information. Aadhaar PVC Card is sent to the applicant’s address through speed post. You can get it online by visiting uidai.gov.in or resident.uidai.gov.in with a fee of Rs 50 through Aadhaar number, Virtual ID or Enrollment ID.

3. M base

This is an official mobile application developed by UIDAI. It provides an interface to Aadhaar number holders to carry their Aadhaar records registered with CIDR. This record includes Aadhaar number along with demographic data and a photograph. It also contains a secure QR code for offline verification. mAadhaar is also available for download at no cost. mAadhaar profile is recognized as a valid ID proof by Airports and Railways. You can also use it to share your eKYC.

4. E-Aadhaar

This is the electronic form of Aadhaar. It is password protected. It contains a secure QR code for offline verification. It is digitally signed by UIDAI. You can get your e-Aadhaar from the official website of UIDAI by using your registered mobile number. Each Aadhaar enrollment or update instantly generates an e-Aadhaar, which can be downloaded for free. This is also as valid as a physical copy for all purposes.
