Aadhaar Update: How to change name and address in Aadhaar card sitting at home after marriage, learn here- step-by-step process

Aadhar Name and Address Change: Changing your name and address on your Aadhaar card after marriage can be done through the online portal of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). How can this process be done online? Step-by-step information has been given about it-

Go to UIDAI website

Go to the official website of UIDAI https://uidai.gov.in/.

Click on “My Aadhaar”

On the UIDAI homepage, look for the “My Aadhaar” tab and click on it. A drop-down menu will appear.

Select “Update Your Aadhaar”

From the drop-down menu, select the option “Update your Aadhaar” and click on it.

Go to the Self-Service Update Portal

You will be re-directed to the UIDAI Self-Service Update Portal. Click on the “Next” button to continue.

Enter your Aadhaar details

On the next page, you need to enter your Aadhaar number and solve the security captcha. Then click on the “Send OTP” button.

Verify OTP

You will receive a One-Time Password (OTP) on your registered mobile number. Enter the OTP in the given field and click on the “Submit” button.

Select the field to be updated

On the next page, you will be given an option to select the fields you want to update. Select “Name” and “Address” and click on “Submit” button.

Enter new details

You will be asked to enter new name and address details. Enter the required information correctly.

Upload Supporting Documents

You will need to upload scanned copies of supporting documents that reflect the change in your name and address, such as marriage certificate, marriage invitation card, etc. Make sure that these documents are in the prescribed format.

Review and submit the request

Once you have entered the new details and uploaded the required documents, review the information provided to ensure its accuracy. Click on the “Submit” button to proceed further.

Choose BPO Service Provider

On the next page, you will be asked to select the BPO service provider for verification. Select the appropriate option based on your preference.

Acknowledgment slip

After submitting the request, an acknowledgment slip will be generated with Update Request Number (URN). Save this number for future reference.

Track status

You can track the status of your update request using the URN. Visit UIDAI website, go to “My Aadhaar” section, select “Check Status – Update Online” and enter your Aadhaar number and URN to check the progress.

Significantly, the change in name can be done only after marriage. If you have the necessary legal documents to support the change. Additionally, follow the instructions given on the UIDAI website and ensure that you have correct and valid supporting documents to avoid any delay or rejection.
