- First of all you go to the website www.uidai.gov.in
- After this, select ‘Aadhaar Services’ option in ‘My Aadhaar’ tab and then select ‘Lock/Unlock Biometrics’ option.
- After this a new tab will open on your screen. To proceed to lock your biometrics, you must select a tick box that reads, “I understand that once Biometric Lock is enabled, I will not perform biometric authentication until I unlock the biometrics.” Doesn’t do it.”
- After selecting the box, click on ‘Lock/Unlock Biometrics’.
- After this enter your Aadhaar number and captcha code and then click on ‘Send OTP’.
- After OTP, a message will appear on your screen from the UIDAI website “Dear Users, Biometric Locking facility is currently not enabled for your Aadhaar (UID). By enabling this feature you will be able to lock and temporarily unlock your biometric authentication.”
- If you agree, click ‘Enable Locking Feature’.
- After this your biometrics will be locked.
Unlock biometric like this
- First of all you go to the website www.uidai.gov.in
- After this, select ‘Aadhaar Services’ option in ‘My Aadhaar’ tab and then select ‘Lock/Unlock Biometrics’ option.
- After selecting the box, click on ‘Lock/Unlock Biometrics’.
- After this enter your Aadhaar number and captcha code and then click on ‘Send OTP’.
- Click on ‘Unlock Biometric’. On clicking this option, your biometrics will be unlocked for a few minutes and will be locked after the expiry of that period. During the time when your biometrics is unlocked, you can use your fingerprints/iris to authenticate your Aadhaar number.
Unlock permanently like this
- If you want to permanently unlock your biometrics, click ‘Disable Locking Feature’.
- After selecting this option you will be able to use your biometrics for authentication purpose without any time limit.
