The head of this statue, which was made on the lines of Lincoln Memorial, came off and the leg also got separated from the torso. The other leg also melted by Monday.

CulturalDC, the NGO that built the statue, said, “Our staff has intentionally removed Lincoln’s head so that it does not fall and break. This 3,000-pound wax statue is to be burned like a candle and changed over time, but this extreme heat has caused a lot of damage to this statue.” The organization said that the freezing point of the wax used in the statue of Lincoln – where a substance begins to melt – is 140 degrees (Fahrenheit). This statue named “40 Acres: Camp Barker” was to be kept in the school till September. CulturalDC said in its press release, “This installation is based on the history of DC’s Civil War era refugee camp. The refugee camp in which formerly enslaved and freed African Americans lived. Camp Barker was established at the place where Garrison Elementary is now.” Abraham Lincoln was the 16th President of America. Lincoln is credited with ending the practice of slavery in America. He was President from 1861 to 1865.
