SBI RuPay Jan-Dhan Card: A person above 10 years of age can open an account. sbi has issued cards to 38.87% of the total Jan Dhan beneficiaries.
On applying for SBI RuPay JanDhan Card, the country’s largest bank, State Bank of India, will provide accident insurance cover of Rs 2 lakh. SBI has issued RuPay Jan-Dhan Card to 38.87% of the total Jan Dhan beneficiaries. Out of a total of 12.85 crore Jan Dhan beneficiaries, 30.44% have accounts in SBI. It is worth noting that SBI has 25.67% of the total deposits of Rs 1.46 lakh crore deposited in Jan Dhan accounts.
A large program of financial inclusion
Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana is the flagship financial inclusion program of the government. The purpose of which is to give benefits to as many people as possible. There is no need to maintain minimum balance except accident coverage in Jan Dhan accounts.
In this, overdraft facility is also offered under the eligibility criteria, after the Jan Dhan account is properly operated for 6 months. Those who get financial assistance from the welfare schemes of the government, they get cash directly in these accounts.
Any person above the age of 10 years can open a Jan Dhan account. Aadhaar card will be sufficient as a proof of address and identity and no other proof is required to open an account. If the address has changed, then self-clarification will be enough. If Aadhaar card is not available, then voter ID card, driving license, passport and MNREGA card will be sufficient as proof of both address and identity.
Jan Dhan Yojana was launched in 2014
Significantly, the Jan Dhan Yojana is one of the flagship programs of the BJP-led NDA government. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced this scheme on August 15, 2014, after the BJP formed the government at the Center. Its purpose is to connect the population of the country with banking services who do not have an account in any bank and who do not have access to banks.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had sent an email to about 7.25 lakh bank employees for this, in which he requested to achieve the goal of opening 7.5 crore bank accounts and help achieve the goal of financial inclusion.
