Reliance Jio again topped the list with 4G download speed in May. At the same time, Vodafone Idea has topped in terms of upload speed. Such information was revealed in a recent report by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) in May. In this context, TRAI calculates the average net speed of telecom companies on the basis of data collected across India with the help of MySpeed application on a real-time basis. Reliance Jio tops in download speed in May
According to the latest report by telecom regulator TRAI, Reliance Jio topped the 4G speed chart in May with a data download speed of 20.6 Mbps. By the way, Jio’s download speed was 20.1 Mbps in April, which has increased slightly this month. Vodafone Idea is second on the list. However, Jio’s closest rival Vodafone Idea offers 6.3 Mbps, which is almost three times less than the download speed.
But this month a rule has changed. Although Vodafone and Idea Cellular merged their mobile businesses to form Vodafone Idea Limited in August 2016, TRAI released separate network speed data for both the companies till April. But for the first time in May, TRAI jointly released the download and upload speed data of Vodafone Idea. Meanwhile, according to the report, Airtel’s average download speed in May was the lowest – 4.6 Mbps.
Vodafone Idea tops upload speed
Vodafone Idea topped the list with data speed of 6.8 Mbps in May. It is followed by Reliance Jio with 4.2 Mbps and Airtel with 3.8 Mbps upload speed. State-owned telco BSNL has launched 4G services in select areas, but its network has not found a place in the speed triad chart.
