We will once again get to see Acer phones in the Indian smartphone market. Bengaluru-based startup Indkal Technologies has signed a license agreement for Acer branded smartphones. The company had stopped selling its smartphones in the Indian market years ago, but is now making a comeback once again.
Indkal has secured $36 million (about Rs 300 crore) in Series A funding last month. After this, the company is bringing back Acer branded phones in the Indian market. Soon we may get to see phones of this Taiwanese brand.
At what price will the new phones come?
Under this deal, Indkal will design, manufacture and distribute smartphones with Acer branding. If the company is to be believed, it will launch many smartphones. The price of these phones will be between Rs 15 thousand and Rs 50 thousand. The company will not focus on the entry level segment.
The brand wants to start with mid-range smartphones. In this segment, the company will compete directly with brands like Vivo, Redmi, OnePlus, iQOO. These brands have a good hold in the Indian market. In such a situation, phones with Acer branding will have to bring something unique.

Acer smartphones will be made in India
The company will manufacture these smartphones in India and they will be part of the Made in India initiative. Advanced software technology will be available in these. According to Indkal, they have set a target of manufacturing 1 million smartphones every year.
The company said that Acer branded smartphones will be available in both online and offline markets. Let us tell you that this is the second collaboration between Acer and an Indian startup. Earlier, the company launched Acer branded smart TV in the year 2021.
