Adani Airport owns Mumbai Airport, Adani Group buys 23.5% stake in MIAL

Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL) has acquired 23.5 per cent stake in Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) from ACSA Global Limited (ACSA) and Bid Services Division (Mauritius) Limited for Rs 1,685.25 crore.

Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), the flagship holding company of the Adani Group, has acquired 23.5 per cent stake in Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) from ACSA Global Limited (ACSA) and Bid Services Division (Mauritius) Limited for Rs 1,685.25 crore. In a regulatory filing, Adani Enterprises said that AHL has acquired 28.20 crore equity shares of MIAL. AHL is also a wholly owned subsidiary of Adani Enterprises.




The filing stated that Adani Airport Holdings Limited has acquired 23.5 per cent equity shares of Rs 10, ie 28,20,00,000 equity shares of Mumbai International Airport Limited from ACSA Global Limited and Bid Services Division (Mauritius) Limited.

Incorporated on 2 March 2006, MIAM is engaged in the business of development, construction and operation of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. In August last year, AHL had entered into an agreement to acquire GVK Airport Developers Limited (GVKDL) loan, which would in turn help the Adani Group acquire a controlling interest in MIAL.

The development work of Navi Mumbai International Airport will also go to Adani.
GVKDL is the holding company through which GVK Group holds a 50.50 per cent equity stake in Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL), which in turn holds a 74 per cent equity stake in Navi Mumbai International Airport Limited.




Adani Group has already taken 3 other airports from AAI
The Adani Group acquired Mangaluru, Lucknow and Ahmedabad airports from AAI late last year. By July this year, it will also acquire Jaipur, Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram airports. The Adani Group will develop, manage and operate these 6 airports for the next 50 years. However, GMR is the largest airport operator in the country in terms of passenger numbers. GMR also has IGIA in Delhi, Mopa Airport in Hyderabad and Goa.
