American retail giant Walmart said that it is ready to launch an initial public offering (IPO) for its Indian e-commerce arm Flipkart.
New Delhi. US-based retail giant Walmart said it is open to an initial public offering (IPO) for its Indian e-commerce arm Flipkart, but there is no clear timeline for the same. Walmart International President and CEO Judith McKenna said at the DB Access Global Consumer Conference on Tuesday that both Flipkart and payments app PhonePe continue to do well. “From the day we have made the acquisition or investment, we have clarified that we are ready for an IPO,” he said.
McKenna, however, said there is no timeline for the share sale. “If we build a strong business and we continue to do the things that we need to do to ensure long-term and sustainable growth, then there is certainly a potential path on which we can go,” he said. Will consider in future, but certainly there is no clear timeline for that (IPO) at the moment.”
