Singapore Airlines Codeshare: Air India and Singapore Airlines (SIA) have signed their ‘codeshare’ agreement, which will launch 11 domestic and 40 international destinations.
Singapore Airlines Codeshare: Air India and Singapore Airlines (SIA) have agreed to expand their codeshare agreement, adding 11 Indian cities and 40 other international destinations to their networks. This is the first major expansion of the codeshare arrangement between the airlines since 2010. This will give customers better travel options between Singapore and India as well as other places.
What is a codeshare agreement?
The codeshare agreement allows airlines to offer services to their customers on each other’s flights. From October 27 this year, Air India and SIA will codeshare on each other’s flights between Singapore and Indian cities, taking their total weekly services between the two countries from 14 to 56.
Air India Chief Commercial Officer Nipun Aggarwal said on Wednesday that the expansion of the agreement will give passengers more options and expanded global connectivity.
Connectivity with these countries will be easy
He said, “Air India and Singapore Airlines have been long-standing partners. With this expanded scope of our codeshare agreement, we are excited to offer our guests better connectivity to destinations in South East Asia, Far East and Australia.”
Singapore Airlines Chief Commercial Officer Lee Lik Hsin said the expansion of the codeshare arrangement reflects the strong collaborative spirit between the two airlines.
He said, “It reflects our commitment to meet the high demand for air travel between India and Singapore and beyond and contribute to the growth of both aviation markets. Adding Air India’s domestic network to our codeshare arrangement will provide our customers with better connectivity and convenience in India, which is a key market for the SIA Group.”
