Aviation industry sources say that due to engine related problems, supply system problems and financial difficulties, the number of flights in the country is not increasing rapidly. Due to this, a huge crowd of passengers is being seen on important air routes of the country. Due to this, the fare has increased. The air fare between Udaipur and big cities like Delhi, Jaipur and Mumbai has almost doubled on Rakshabandhan.
Huge increase in fares
According to a report by Business Standard, as per ixigo data, the average fare on the Bangalore-Kochi route has reached Rs 3,446 between August 14 and 20, which is 46.3 percent more than the same period last year. Airfare on the Bangalore-Mumbai route has also increased to Rs 3,969, which is 37.6 percent more than last year. This year, the airfare on the Delhi-Pune route has reached Rs 5,257 between August 14 and 20, which is 22.6 percent more than the same period last year.
Ameya Joshi, who researches the aviation industry and founder of Network Thoughts, says that on long weekends, people go to celebrate a few days of vacation or meet their relatives, which increases the air fare. Aviation companies have not been able to increase their flights much for some time, so the ticket prices on certain routes have suddenly increased.
Flights are not increasing in the country
Airlines in the country are not able to increase the number of their flights as per the need. According to sources, out of the 383 aircraft in the fleet of the country’s largest airline Indigo, about 70 are currently grounded. The number of flights between Bangalore and Kochi every week in August this year is the same as last year, while the number of passengers is increasing. According to Cirium, a company that keeps an eye on the aviation industry, the number of flights between Bangalore and Mumbai has decreased by 4.8 percent in August this year as compared to August last year.
