600 employees likely to be affected
Sources associated with the merger plan told PTI-Bhasha that about 600 employees of Air India and Vistara may be affected by the merger. These employees are associated with work related to non-aviation activities. Sources said that efforts will be made to provide employment to these employees affected by the merger process in Air India as well as other companies of the Tata Group. A voluntary separation scheme package will be brought for employees who are unable to be accommodated in any group.
When will the merger process start?
According to sources, the merger process is expected to be completed by the end of September or early October. Only after the process is completed, the exact number of affected employees will be known. There has been no response from Air India in this regard. The exercise to implement the merger process has been going on for the last few months. During this time, the employees of the airlines are being selected keeping in mind their previous experience, performance and other factors. However, sources clarified that the merger process will not have any effect on the crew members and pilots of both the airlines.
