Airline Wi-Fi Service: The dream of passengers to stay connected to the internet while traveling has now become a reality. Air India has started Wi-Fi internet service on its domestic and international flights from January 1, 2025. This facility will be available on Airbus A350, Boeing 787-9 and select Airbus A321neo aircraft. With this, Air India has become the first airline in India to introduce in-flight Wi-Fi on flights within the country. The special thing is that this service is going to be free for now.
Rajesh Dogra, Chief Customer Experience Officer, Air India, said, “Connectivity has become an important part of today’s travel. For some, it is a convenience to share information in real-time, while for others, it is a means to enhance productivity and efficiency. We are confident that our passengers will welcome this new feature and enjoy connectivity during flights.”
Features of Wi-Fi service
This service will be available to passengers through Wi-Fi enabled devices such as laptops, tablets and smartphones (iOS and Android operating systems). Above an altitude of 10,000 feet, passengers will be able to connect multiple devices simultaneously. This facility will be made available free of cost initially, so that passengers can experience it.
New beginning in international and domestic flights
Air India had earlier started this service as a pilot program on international routes. These include major destinations like New York, London, Paris and Singapore. Now it is being implemented on domestic routes as well. The Wi-Fi service will be expanded to other aircraft gradually.
This new service allows Air India passengers to browse the internet, use social media, work or stay connected with friends and family. This facility can prove to be a boon especially for business travellers as they can continue their work even during the flight.
Air India has indicated that this service may become chargeable during the flight in future, but for now it has been kept free. With this new initiative, Air India is taking a big step towards providing a modern and advanced flying experience to its customers.
