Mumbai Airport Terminal Entry Points (eGates): The number of terminal entry points or eGates at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) has increased from 24 to 68. An official said on Tuesday that this is the highest availability of eGates at any airport in the country.
7440 passengers will enter in 1 hour
With the increased capacity, CSMIA Terminal 2 will be able to accommodate 7,440 passengers per hour and Terminal 1 will be able to accommodate 2,160 passengers. This is three times the current capacity. This will reduce the waiting time of passengers for security check to less than a minute. This will be convenient for both Digi Yatra and non-Digi Yatra passengers.
Passengers will be comfortable
An airport spokesperson said about the expansion of Digi Yatra, “By increasing the number of e-gates and connecting them with advanced biometric systems, we are committed to ensuring a smooth, safe and seamless journey for all our passengers.”

24 to 68 e-gates increased
CSMIA’s digital gateway combines technology, process excellence, big data analytics and design to provide an exemplary travel experience to passengers. The number of terminal entry points has been increased from 24 to 68 without any major civil work.
118 additional e-gates to be built
The airport’s Terminal 2 has 28 e-gates exclusively for Digi Yatra and 28 gates for non-Digi Yatra. Terminal 1 has six e-gates exclusively for Digi Yatra and six gates for non-Digi Yatra. The spokesperson said that apart from this, 118 additional e-gates are being built for security checks before entry.
