DIAL has sought permission from the Delhi Transport Department to develop and operate the airport ISBT for inter-state buses. There are also plans to commercially develop the place at this bus terminal with a food court, EV charging station.
Delhi International Airport Limited has planned an intermodal transport hub at IGI Airport. Under this, Indira Gandhi International Airport located in the national capital will soon get an inter state bus terminal. With the construction of ISBT, a dedicated stand or parking area will be available for the buses coming to IGI Airport. DIAL has also planned to commercially develop the space at this bus terminal with a food court, EV charging station.
In a letter sent to the transport department of the Delhi government, Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has said that it has planned an intermodal transport hub near the Aerocity metro station at IGI airport for long-distance interstate service. An airport ISBT will also be included as a primary facility. The metro station being built by DMRC on this ISBT and Phase-4 line will provide a lot of convenience to the passengers coming from other states.
Travelers from states adjacent to Delhi will benefit
It said, ‘Keeping in mind the features of an integrated transport hub, the proposed airport ISBT will be built for the convenience of passengers. It is being planned to be developed as a modern facility to operate inter-stage luxury buses. The Delhi Government department is examining the proposal of Delhi International Airport Limited and it has not been approved yet.
Delhi International Airport Limited has said in the letter that the airport ISBT and other passenger facilities will be developed by DIAL directly or through a nominee in consultation with the Transport Department. The capital cost for development of the facilities will be borne by DIAL. DIAL has sought permission from the Delhi Transport Department to develop and operate the airport ISBT for inter-state buses.
