Digi Yatra at Jaipur Airport: DigiYatra system is going to start very soon at Jaipur Airport, so that passengers will not need to carry flight tickets and boarding passes with them.
Digi Yatra at Jaipur Airport: Very soon passengers traveling on domestic flights from Jaipur airport will not need to carry flight tickets and boarding passes with them. Under the Digi Yatra program being launched by the Aviation Ministry, biometric boarding systems (face pods) will be installed at Jaipur airport, so that passengers can scan their facial biometric data (eyeballs, etc.) Get rid of the cumbersome process of ‘check-in’. The ‘Face Pod’ will eliminate the need for manual verification of tickets and identity documents at check points, thereby saving passengers time.
A Jaipur airport spokesperson said that for now the program will start with only one dedicated entryway for passengers opting to ‘check-in’ through DigiYatra, but will be expanded later.
DigiYatra option has to be selected
The Digi Yatra system will simplify the process of ‘check-in’, security check and ‘boarding’ for passengers, making the process from entering the terminal building to boarding the aircraft faster and smoother. Passengers opting for ‘Check-in’ through DigiYatra will have to register either at the airport or through DigiYatra Portal or DigiYatra App.
How the system works
The DigiYatra app is available on both iOS and Android smartphones. After registration, each passenger will get a unique DY ID, which can be used for all future air travel to any part of the country. This DY ID will be linked to the PNR number of the passenger and all data related to it will be saved on the DigiYatra portal.
Very useful thing
The DigiYatra portal, in coordination with airlines, will identify and match travel details such as city, airport and flight number and send these to the airport security staff six hours before the departure of the flight. ‘DigiYatri’ will be able to pass through entry gates, security points and boarding gates by simply scanning the biometric data of their face. At the same time, passengers who do not have DigiYatri ID will have to go through the regular process to ‘check-in’. The ‘DigiYatra’ portal will enable paperless and contactless travel experience at various check points.
Service started in 2022
The DigiYatra facility was first launched in December 2022 at New Delhi, Bengaluru and Varanasi airports. Later it was made available at some other airports as well. Jaipur International Airport is used by an average of 13,500 passengers daily. 49 domestic flights are operated daily from this airport to many other places including Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Guwahati, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kolkata.
