Whether you are boarding or landing a flight from Delhi Airport, this will soon decide how much your air ticket will cost. For this, Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) of GMR Airports has got approval. Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India (AERA) has approved its variable tariff plan for Delhi Airport.
Airport Rules: Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), a subsidiary of GMR Group, GMR Airports has received regulatory approval to increase the Users Development Fee (UDF) for Delhi Airport by a significant amount. DIAL aims to enhance infrastructure and make Delhi Airport a hub and encourage long-haul flights. GMR Airports itself has disclosed this. The company says that the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India (AERA) has approved its variable tariff plan for Delhi Airport. Apart from this, there will be an increase in aeronautical tariff as well. This order will come into effect from April 16, 2025.
How much increase in charges has been approved?
GMR Airports has been approved by the regulator to increase the aeronautical tariff by about 148 percent. This increase is for the current control period which is up to March 31, 2029. It has been increased from Rs 145 to Rs 360. There is no change in the User Development Fee (UDF) for domestic passengers and it remains at Rs 129 per domestic passenger. However, note that passengers boarding flights from Delhi Airport will have to pay a UDF of Rs 129, while passengers alighting at Delhi Airport will have to pay a UDF of Rs 56. Now, for international passengers, there are different UDFs for economy and business class.
What is UDF on international flights?
UDF on international flights has increased significantly. For economy class passengers, UDF has increased by 403% from Rs. 129 to Rs. 650 and for business class passengers, it has been increased by 527% to Rs. 810. Passengers landing at New Delhi airport via international flights will now have to pay UDF, which was not charged earlier. If economy class passengers land at Delhi airport via international flights, they will have to pay Rs. 275 while business class passengers will have to pay Rs. 345.
