Akhilesh Yadav Resigns as MLA: Samajwadi Party national president and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has resigned from the Karhal assembly seat. Now he will represent the Kannauj constituency in the Lok Sabha. Apart from Akhilesh, SP MLA Awadhesh Prasad, who was elected MP from Faizabad Lok Sabha constituency, also resigned.
After Akhilesh’s resignation from the Karhal assembly seat, now the discussion has started as to who will be the SP candidate in the by-election from this area? Sources claim that Tej Pratap Yadav can be fielded from the Karhal seat. In fact, in the last 2022 assembly elections, Akhilesh Yadav contested from the Karhal seat and won.
Tej Pratap Yadav is the son-in-law of Lalu Prasad Yadav, the national president of the Rashtriya Janata Dal in Bihar. He is married to Lalu’s daughter Rajlakshmi.
In the Lok Sabha elections 2024, the Samajwadi Party had first given the ticket to Tej Pratap Yadav from the Kannauj assembly seat, although on the last day of nomination, Akhilesh Yadav himself filed the nomination from this seat. In the election, he defeated Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Subrat Pathak.
