Cybersecurity firm Kaspersky has given information about this malware and its researchers have informed in their recent report that Trojan Triada has affected the modified version of WhatsApp, FMWhatsApp 16.80.0. These apps provide users with additional features that are not present in the original app.

Kaspersky further said that Trojan Triada has penetrated the new version of FMWhatsApp through the Advertising Software Development Kit (SDK). By launching the Trojan-infected app, it collects unique device identifiers which include device ID, subscriber ID, MAC address, etc. After collecting this data, it sends it to the remote server. This server registers the new device and sends a back link payload. After this, the Trojan present in the app downloads the payload to the infected device and decrypts the content and launches it for operation. Also Read: CM Yogi will launch Ujjwala Yojana 2.0 today, 20 lakh women will get benefit

Researchers have identified many such malware that is working to steal people’s data through FMWhatsApp. There is also one that downloads the payload and performs different activities in the other malware infected device. This includes showing full-screen ads, running invisible ads in the background, and making device owners sign up for paid subscriptions without their knowledge.

Kaspersky said that since users of FMWhatsApp allow the app to read SMS from their device, the Trojan and its other malicious modules can take advantage of it. These users can easily sign up for a paid subscription, whether it requires a confirmation message or SMS to complete the process. Also Read: TMKOC: Nattu Kaka’s condition after cancer, a shocking photo surfaced
