Actually, Apple has removed not one or two but 135,000 apps from its App Store. The company has taken this step to make the App Store more transparent. Actually, Apple had given time till February 17 for app developers to submit their trader information. Millions of apps failed to do so, after which the company, following the rules of the European Union, has banned about 135,000 apps from its App Store in a few days.
Let us tell you that according to the rules of the European Union (EU), app developers have to disclose their business status. This means that for listing their apps on the App Store, developers will have to provide necessary information like their address, email ID and phone number. If they do not do this, they will be banned from the App Store and Apple has banned 1.35 lakh apps from its App Store under this rule.
EU introduced new rules
The Digital Services Act has been introduced for online platforms in Europe. Although it was temporarily implemented in the year 2023, it became fully effective on February 17, 2025. Due to this deadline, app developers were asked to comply with the directive by February 17.
Apple has made it clear that until the app developers do not provide the necessary information about the business, they will remain banned on the App Store. Let us tell you that since the launch of the App Store, this is the biggest step taken by Apple till date.
