Amrit Mahotsav App Innovation Challenge 2021 has been launched by the Central Government for Indian entrepreneurs and start-ups. According to government sources, this is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s idea of creating a new self-reliant India by 2022 and celebrating the 75th year of India’s independence as the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence. In the last few years, many new apps have entered various sectors and have made their way into the markets whether it is in social media, messaging, marketing, transportation or in the field of catering.
The Amrit Mahotsav App Innovation Challenge also has a category on Culture and Heritage that will help identify those apps. This app can display the rich cultural heritage and traditions of India. According to the government, the identified categories will provide an opportunity to innovators and tech entrepreneurs to create such solutions. With incentives like various cash prizes and a place on the leader board, this innovation challenge strives to create such an ecosystem. Here Indian entrepreneurs and start-ups are encouraged to think, launch, build, develop and sustain such technological solutions. These people can serve not only the citizens of India but also the world.
The government wants to increase the self-reliant app launched last year in the name of Amrit Mahotsav. Last year, the government had selected 24 winners in 8 categories. Now 48 winners will be selected in 6 categories in Amrit Mahotsav. Amrut Mahotsav App Innovation Challenge 2021 has been launched in 16 categories including Culture & Heritage, Health, Education, Social Media, Emerging Technology, Skills, News, Sports, Entertainment, Office, Health & Nutrition, Agriculture, Business and retail, fintech, navigation and others. Each category can have multiple subcategories.
How to apply
The Innovation Challenge will be available at https://innovateindia.mygov.in/. The last date for submission of application is 30 September 2021. Applicants need to apply online by registering and logging on to MyGov portal – www.mygov.in to submit their proposals. For each category, a special judging committee with experts from the private sector and academia will evaluate the entries received. Selected apps will be rewarded and will also be displayed on the leader board for the information of the citizens. The government will also adopt the apps found suitable, and guide them to move forward and list them on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM).
