Out of the proposed corridors, the one going to Sonipat will be connected to the Yellow Line of the Delhi Metro. This corridor will be 15 km long from the last metro station of the Yellow Line, Samaypur Badli, to Kundli on the Haryana border.
Delhi Metro connectivity will be further strengthened in NCR. For this, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has started work rapidly. Metro will conduct topography survey to prepare three new corridors. Tender has also been issued for this. These corridors will be built from Delhi to Noida Sector-142, Samaypur Badli to Kundli and Kundli to Sonipat. After the construction of these corridors, the connectivity of metro in Noida will increase further. Also, those commuting from Delhi to Sonipat will get great relief, because metro service will start for the first time in Sonipat.
According to Metro officials, with the help of topography survey, feasibility study and detailed project report (DPR) will be prepared for all three corridors. After the tender is allotted, the work has to be completed in 12 months. After this, DMRC will start further process related to construction. The proposed corridor will be built from Samaypur Badli to Haryana border Kundli and then from Kundli to Sonipat. After the construction of this corridor, passengers will be able to go directly from Gurugram to Sonipat. Also, passengers coming from Sonipat will be able to go to Delhi or Gurugram.
Work going on on three corridors
At present, Delhi Metro is working on three corridors under its Phase-4. In 2019, the construction of three corridors of about 65 km length was approved. Work is going on on Aerocity-Tughlakabad, RK Ashram Marg-Janakpuri West and Majlis Park-Maujpur corridor at a cost of about 24,950 crores. In this, the work of RK Ashram-Janakpuri West corridor has almost been completed. It is planned to start it this month. At the same time, the target is to complete the Aerocity-Tughlakabad and Majlis Park-Maujpur corridor in 2026.
Noida and South Delhi residents will benefit
A 15 km long metro corridor will be built from Tughlakabad to Noida Sector-142. People living in South Delhi and near Noida-Greater Noida Expressway will travel through this corridor. Passengers will reach Tughlakabad metro station before Noida. Here, metro connectivity will be available to go to other areas of Delhi as well as to go to IGI airport. Passengers will be able to reach IGI from Tughlakabad metro station via the Tughlakabad-Aerocity line of DMRC’s Phase-4 under construction.
Metro will be connected to all the districts of Haryana adjoining Delhi
Four districts of Haryana are adjacent to Delhi. These include Faridabad, Gurugram, Jhajjar and Sonipat. Delhi metro is connected to all the districts except Sonipat. After the metro starts in Sonipat, there will be metro connectivity in all the districts of Haryana adjoining Delhi.
