Gramin Seva Yojana was started in 2010
Gramin Seva, launched in 2010, is a para-transit scheme in which high-capacity three-wheelers with a seating capacity of six passengers were allowed to ply in Delhi’s rural areas, unauthorized, rehabilitation colonies and JJ clusters. An official said that these vehicles are an important means of last-mile connectivity in rural areas.
There were six thousand registered Gramin Seva autos in Delhi
We have received memorandums from their organization, requesting us to issue guidelines to ensure their conversion to electric vehicles. The associations have held meetings with transport department officials and urged them to take steps to revive the services.
According to officials, there were about 6,000 registered Gramin Seva autos. However, many of them have disappeared from the roads with the passage of time. Currently, there are about 2,000 to 3,000 such vehicles running in rural areas.
