Sree Narayana Guru Samadhi Day (September 22, Friday): Banks will remain closed in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram.

Maharaja Hari Singh Ji’s Birthday (23 September, Saturday): Banks will remain closed in Jammu and Srinagar.

Sunday 24 September: Weekly holiday
Birth Anniversary/Karma Puja of Shrimant Sankardev (25 September, Monday): Banks will remain closed in Guwahati and Ranchi.

Milad-e-Sherif (Birthday of Prophet Muhammad) (September 27, Wednesday): Banks will remain closed in Jammu, Kochi, Srinagar and Thiruvananthapuram.

Eid-e-Milad (September 28, Thursday): Banks will remain closed in major cities including Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Belapur, Chennai, Dehradun, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Imphal.

Indrajatra/Friday after Eid-e-Milad-ul-Nabi (September 29, Friday): Banks will remain closed in Gangtok, Jammu and Srinagar.

Who decides bank holidays?

Let us tell you that bank holidays are decided by the Reserve Bank of India. Holidays on the second and fourth Saturday of the month are applicable for all banks, from private banks and government banks to co-operative and rural or regional banks. This is also applicable for both non-scheduled and scheduled banks in India. Bank holidays of second and fourth Saturday will be common for all private sector and public sector banks in all states and union territories in India. It always happens on the second and fourth Saturday of the month.

Internet banking services and ATMs will remain open

Even though banks remain closed on holidays, internet banking services are available and can be used with the exception of transactions made by RTGS transfer mode. Other banking services like NEFT, IMPS, mobile banking and UPI payment services are also available.
