Chhath Puja 2024 Bank Holiday: On the occasion of Chhath Puja 2024, banks will remain closed for four days in many states including Bihar, Jharkhand, Delhi, and West Bengal. According to the official bank holiday list of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks will remain closed on November 7 and 8 in these states, so customers should settle their banking work in advance.

Will banks remain closed on Chhath Puja?

Yes, according to RBI, banks in these states will not function on November 7 and 8 due to Chhath Puja holiday. Apart from this, banks are also closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month, due to which banks will not open on November 9 this time as well. In this way, there will be no work in banks from November 7 to November 10.

Importance of Chhath Puja

Chhath Puja is a four-day festival of worship of the Sun God, in which devotees offer water to the rising and setting sun. Special rituals such as fasting, holy bath and meditation while standing in water are followed.

List of bank holidays in Delhi and other states

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi has declared November 7 as a public holiday on the occasion of Chhath Puja.

November 7 (Thursday): Banks will remain closed for evening prayers of Chhath Puja in Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal.

November 8 (Friday): Banks will remain closed for morning prayers of Chhath Puja and Wangala Festival in Bihar, Jharkhand, and Meghalaya.

November 9 (Saturday): Banks will remain closed across India as it is the second Saturday of the month.

November 10 (Sunday): Banks will remain closed due to regular weekly holiday.
