Bank Holidays In January 2024: Banks in India will remain closed for 16 days in January 2024. The 16 day bank holidays include all Sundays, second and fourth Saturdays. Those who have to go to the bank branch to complete their work must first know the list of bank holidays. In the first month of the new year, there are many festivals and government holidays like Makar Sankranti, Republic Day due to which banks are going to remain closed. You can complete your work during holidays through mobile banking, UPI and internet banking.

There are two types of bank holidays. First, which happens in the entire country and second, which happens only in the state. State holidays are state holidays only. Which depending on which state you live in, there may or may not be bank holidays on that date. Whereas national holidays are those on which all banks across the country remain closed.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released a calendar in which banks remain closed on those dates. That is, there is no work in the bank. Bank holidays are listed under the State Government, Central Government and Union Territories Act of 1881. Three national holidays are celebrated in India. This includes the holidays of 26 January (Republic Day), 15 August (Independence Day), and Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, 2 October.
