Bank Holidays May 2024: Only a few days are left for the month of May. According to the list of holidays released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks will remain closed for 12 days in May 2024. This includes all Sundays except the second and fourth Saturdays.

This includes all Sundays except second and fourth Saturdays. Apart from this, banks will remain closed in some states due to Lok Sabha elections. There are many festivals in May like Rabindranath Tagore’s birth anniversary, Nazrul Jayanti, Akshaya Tritiya due to which banks will not function. Banks will not be closed simultaneously in all states. Internet banking services will continue to be available during holidays.

1 May: Maharashtra Day/May Day (Labor Day).
Banks in Belapur, Bengaluru, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad – Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad – Telangana, Imphal, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, Panaji, Patna and Thiruvananthapuram will remain closed due to Maharashtra Day/May Day holiday.
May 5: Sunday
Due to 5th May being Sunday, all banks will remain closed.
8 May: Birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore (Rabindra Jayanti)
All banks of Kolkata will remain closed on the occasion of Rabindra Jayanti on 8th May.
10 May: Basava Jayanti/Akshay Tritiya
There will be a holiday in all the banks of Bengaluru on the occasion of Basava Jayanti/Akshaya Tritiya on 10th May.

All banks in Belapur and Mumbai will remain closed on May 20 for the Lok Sabha general elections 2024 to be held between April and June.
May 23: Buddha Purnima
All banks in the states of Agartala, Aizawl, Belapur, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Itanagar, Jammu, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Raipur, Ranchi, Shimla, Srinagar will remain closed on the occasion of Buddha Purnima holiday.
