Bank Locker Rules: Finance Minister is making a new rule regarding Bank Locker Nominee, know what is the matter

Bank Locker Rules: It is possible that the key of the bank locker may be lost or stolen. But, there is no need to worry much about it, because the bank issues a new key if the locker key is lost. However, for this customers have to inform the bank on time.

Lakhs of people in the country take advantage of the facility of lockers in banks to keep their valuables and documents safe. Generally, all major banks provide locker facility, but charge customers annually for the use.

After taking the locker facility in the bank, it takes 2 keys to open it. One of these keys is with the customer while the other is with the bank manager. Remember, unless both the keys are in place, the locker will not open. Many times the customers lose the key of the bank locker. Now the question is what will happen in such a situation?

Since the customer always keeps expensive jewelery and important documents in the bank locker, the matter remains sensitive. Just as a complaint has to be made to the police in case of loss of the SIM card, in the same way, in case of loss of the key of the bank locker, the bank has to be informed first.

According to HDFC Bank, you will need to submit an application form with the details of the locker key and number. Along with this, a photocopy of the receipt of the police report or the complaint lodged will also have to be given.

After this the bank will charge you for the new key. Then, the bank will tell you when and where to collect the new key. The locker hirer has to be present at the specified time and place to collect the new key. However, the duplicate key carries the risk of it being tampered with in the locker.

In such a situation, if the customer wishes, he can get the first locker broken and shift all the goods to the second locker. However, the customer may have to bear the entire cost of this process. Charges for breaking open the locker/replacing the lost key and Rs.1000/- (excluding GST) will be recovered from the hirer. This fee may vary from bank to bank. Now you know how valuable the key to the bank locker is, so it needs to be kept safe at all times.
