Bank New Service: ICICI Bank has recently integrated RuPay credit card with UPI transactions. Users can now link it to the UPI app of their choice and then conduct person-to-merchant transactions. ICICI Bank has collaborated with National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to enable UPI transactions on its RuPay credit cards.
ICICI Bank’s RuPay cards include Coral RuPay Card, HPCL Super Saver and Rubix. Bijith Bhaskar, Cards Head, ICICI Bank, said, ‘The integration of RuPay Credit Card with UPI provides better financial liquidity to customers by offering interest free credit up to 50 days. NPCI said, by merging UPI with RuPay credit card, we are reshaping the landscape of digital payments.
Other banks also provide the facility of RuPay card linking.
Apart from ICICI Bank, other banks also provide the facility to link RuPay card with UPI. Earlier, credit card holders had to swipe the card to make payment. It was not possible to make smaller payments than this. Those merchants who do not have card swipe machines were not able to take card payments, but now they can also take payments through UPI’s QR.
Process to link RuPay credit card in UPI app
- If you do not have UPI app in your phone then download it from Play Store.
- Register by verifying mobile number on UPI app
- After registration, select the option “RuPay Credit Card on UPI”.
- Select the credit card you have from the list of credit card issuers.
- Enter the last 6 digits of your credit card and card expiry date.
- Set your 6 digit UPI PIN. Now you will be able to make payment through your Rupay credit card.

PNB Select Credit Card
- This card comes with ₹1000 joining and ₹0 annual fee.
- You get 300+ reward points on using the card for the first time.
- Personal accident cover is also available on this card of PNB.
- Cashback is available on utility bill and hotel payments.
- You get 2X reward points on making payments in retail business.
Kotak League Rupay Credit Card
- This card comes with ₹499 joining and ₹499 annual fee.
- The annual fee gets waived off after spending ₹ 50 thousand in a year.
- Any Indian between 21 to 65 years of age can issue this card.
- Free 4 PVR movie tickets after spending ₹1.25 lakh every 6 months.
- There is a maximum surcharge refund of ₹3500 at a time on fuel transactions.
IDFC First Power Plus Rupay Select Credit Card
- This card comes with ₹499 joining and ₹499 annual fee.
- The annual fee gets waived off once you spend ₹150,000 in a year.
- No interest on withdrawing cash from ATM. ₹199 withdrawal fee per transaction.
- 25% off (maximum ₹100) is available on booking 2 movie tickets.
- Personal accident cover of ₹2 lakh and last card liability cover of ₹25,000.
- 30 reward points on every ₹150 payment on HPCL Fuel, LPG Utility, Grocery.
IDBI Winning Rupay Select Card
- This card comes with ₹0 joining and ₹899 annual fee.
- The annual fee will be waived off once you spend ₹90,000 in a year.
- Accidental death cover and permanent disability cover of ₹10 lakh is available.
- Any Indian between 18 to 70 years of age can issue this card.
- 2 Delight Points on every ₹100 payment and Double Delight Points in the birthday month.
- Extra 500 Delight Points on completing 5 transactions of ₹1000 in a month.
HDFC Freedom Rupay Credit Card
- This card comes with ₹500 joining and ₹500 annual fee.
- The annual fee will be waived off after spending ₹50,000 in a year.
- Any Indian between 21 to 60 years of age can issue this card.
- 1% surcharge amount is available on fuel transactions ranging from ₹400 to ₹5000.
- 10X Cash Points on every ₹100 payment in Big Basket, Book My Show, Oyo, Swiggy.
