HDFC Credit Card: HDFC Bank’s credit cards are quite popular. However, the bank is now going to make many changes in its credit card reward program. The new rules are going to be implemented from September 1. Due to this, you will get only 2000 reward points every month on utility transactions. Apart from this, reward points will not be given on education payments. Earlier, many banks have changed the rules to stop the use of personal cards in commercial and business transactions.

Many credit card rules were also changed from August 1

HDFC Bank had changed many new rules on credit cards from August 1. In this, 1 percent fee is being charged for utility transactions of more than Rs 50 thousand. Apart from this, this limit has been made 75 thousand rupees per transaction on business cards. However, insurance bill is not considered a utility transaction. Now the limit of maximum points available in a month has also been fixed. Also, a cap of 2000 reward points per month has been imposed on mobile and cable bills.

Personal credit card is being used in business transactions

The bank has informed that in many cases people have used personal credit cards to make business-related transactions. Also, reward points are being earned by paying bills of other people. This also gives them the benefit of offers based on expenditure. Now after the limit on reward points, the credit card cannot be misused.

No benefit will be available on payment from third party apps like CRED

Along with this, HDFC Bank has said that no reward points will be given for making education payments through third party apps like CRED, PayTM, Cheq and MobiKwik. However, reward points will be given for paying fees directly from the school or college website or POS machine. Under the rules implemented on fee payment from August 1, 1 percent fee is being charged on transactions made through third party apps.

Reward points lost on these payments

  • You will not get more than 2000 reward points in a month for paying utility bills like electricity and water.
  • You will not get more than 2000 reward points even for recharging phone and cable TV.
  • You will not get reward points for paying school and college fees through third party apps like Cred.
  • You will not get reward points for paying school and college fees through business cards like BizBlack Metal Card and Biz Power.
  • HDFC Bank has also implemented new rules on co-branded cards like Swiggy and TataNew and premium cards like Infinia.

Changes have also been made in the redemption limit

Apart from this, from October 1, only 50 thousand reward points can be spent on Tanishq vouchers in a quarter on Infinia card.
