Bank Rules Changed:: Big News! Changed rules of HDFC-SBI-ICICI banks will be applicable from September 1, view details

Bank News: HDFC-SBI-ICICI banks have changed these rules for the benefit of the customers and these changed rules will be applicable from 1st September

Bank News: Keeping in mind the crores of account holders, instructions have been given to all the banks by the Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation (DICGC). DICGC has asked banks to display the logo and QR code prominently on the website and internet banking portal by August 31. The customers of HDFC (HDFC), SBI (SBI) and ICICI Bank (ICICI Bank) will get the maximum benefit of this. Actually, these three banks have the largest customer base in the country.

Change made for the purpose of creating awareness

HDFC is the largest bank in the country. On the other hand, talking about SBI, it is the country’s largest public sector bank. This has been done by DICGC for the purpose of creating awareness about the deposit insurance scheme. DICGC insures bank deposits up to Rs 5 lakh. Deposits of Commercial Banks, Local Area Banks (LAB), Payment Banks (PB), Small Finance Banks (SFB), Regional Rural Banks (RRB) and Co-operative Banks are covered under the insurance scheme of DICGC.

Decided in consultation with the central bank

The subsidiary company of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said in a circular that deposit insurance plays an important role in protecting especially small depositors, instilling confidence in the banking system and maintaining financial stability. The circular said, ‘This decision has been taken in consultation with the central bank to increase awareness about focused and continuous deposit insurance. In this decision, all the banks registered with DICGC will prominently display the logo of DICGC and the QR code linked to DICGC website on their website and internet banking portal.

The circular said that displaying the logo and QR code would help customers to identify the banks covered under the deposit insurance scheme of DICGC. Apart from this, it will help in getting complete information about deposit insurance. All concerned banks have been asked to ensure compliance from September 1, 2023. The number of insured banks registered with DICGC stood at 2,027 as on March 31, 2023. It included 140 commercial banks.
