Bank/ Schools Holidays: Good News! Banks and schools will remain closed for this many days in October, list released

Banks and schools Closed: A long list of bank holidays has been released due to festivals in October 2024. This time banks will remain closed for 12 days in the entire month. If you have to do any bank related work, then check this list carefully so that you do not face any problem.

Banks will remain closed for a total of 12 days in October

October includes major festivals like Gandhi Jayanti, Navratri, Dussehra, Karva Chauth, Dhanteras, Diwali. Also, like every month, the second and fourth Saturdays and four Sundays will also be counted as holidays. Let us take a look at the complete list of bank holidays for October:

October 2 (Monday): Banks will remain closed on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.

October 3 (Thursday): Banks will remain closed on account of the beginning of Sharadiya Navratri and Maharaja Agrasen Jayanti.

October 6 (Sunday): Weekly holiday.

October 10 (Thursday): Banks will remain closed on account of Maha Saptami.

October 11 (Friday): Holiday on account of Mahanavami.

October 12 (Saturday): Holiday on account of Ayudha Puja, Dussehra, and second Saturday.

October 13 (Sunday): Weekly holiday.

October 17 (Thursday): Banks will remain closed on account of Kati Bihu (Assam) and Pragat Divas (Valmiki Jayanti).

October 20 (Sunday): Weekly holiday.

October 26 (Saturday): Holiday on account of Accession Day (Jammu and Kashmir) and fourth Saturday.

October 27 (Sunday): Weekly holiday.

October 31 (Thursday): Bank holiday on account of Narak Chaturdashi, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birthday and Diwali.

Apart from this, if we talk about schools, there will be a total of 9 days of public holiday in October 2024 due to festivals and important occasions.

Gandhi Jayanti (2 October, Wednesday): Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday is celebrated on 2 October. This day is one of the three national holidays in India, and banks, schools, colleges, government and private offices remain closed on this day. October 2 is also celebrated as International Day of Non-Violence, which reflects the global recognition of Gandhi’s non-violent resistance.

Mahanavami (11 October, Friday): The ninth day of Navratri, called Mahanavami, is celebrated with great pomp across the country. Schools, banks and most offices are closed on this day.

Dussehra (12 October, Saturday): Dussehra will fall on October 12 in 2024. This festival symbolizes the victory of good over evil. On this day, effigies of Ravana, Kumbhakarna and Meghnath are burnt. Schools, colleges, banks, and other offices are closed on Dussehra.

Diwali (31 October, Thursday): This year Diwali will be celebrated on 31 October. Most places give a two-day holiday for Diwali. According to Hindu belief, on this day Lord Rama returned to Ayodhya after completing 14 years of exile, and lamps were lit to welcome him.
