Bank Strike: Bank Customers Alert! Banks will be on strike for 2 days this month; Know the reason

Bank Strike: UFBU has demanded immediate withdrawal of the recent instructions of the Department of Financial Services (DFS) on performance review and performance linked incentives, which threaten job security and create divisions among employees.

Bank Strike: The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has said that its two-day nationwide strike on March 24 and 25 will be held as per the pre-scheduled schedule. UFBU said that no positive result was achieved in the talks with the Indian Banks Association (IBI) on the key demands of the employee organization. In the meeting with the IBA, UFBU members raised several issues including recruitment in all cadres and five-day working week. National Confederation of Bank Employees (NCBE) General Secretary L Chandrashekhar said that despite the meeting, the major issues remain unresolved. UFBU, an integrated body of nine bank employee unions, had earlier announced a strike over these demands.

These are also the demands

UFBU has demanded immediate withdrawal of the recent instructions of the Department of Financial Services (DFS) on performance review and performance-linked incentives, which threaten job security and create division among employees. The UFBU alleged that micro-management of PSBs on policy matters by the Department of Financial Services has undermined the autonomy of the respective boards. It also demanded resolution of pending issues with the Indian Banks’ Association and amendment of the Gratuity Act to raise the limit to Rs 25 lakh on the lines of the scheme for government employees and exemption from income tax.

Who are included in UFBU

The members of UFBU include All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA), All India Bank Officers Confederation (AIBOC), National Confederation of Bank Employees (NCBE), All India Bank Officers’ Association (AIBOA) and Confederation of Bank Employees of India (BEFI). Earlier, AIBOC had threatened to go on a two-day nationwide strike on February 24-25, 2025.
