Even if you do not have money in your savings account, you can withdraw Rs 10,000 from the bank. To avail this facility, you must have a Jan Dhan account. Jan-Dhan account was started by the Modi government at the Center in the year 2017. On opening a bank account under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, many types of banking facilities like check book, passbook, accidental insurance etc. are available. Along with all this, customers also get overdraft facility. With its help, you can withdraw money whenever needed even if there is no balance in your bank account.

Under this scheme, bank accounts are opened on zero balance account. Even if there is no minimum balance in your account, you do not have to pay any charge for it. Many types of facilities including insurance are available in this scheme. This account, which runs on zero balance, has helped crores of people to easily get benefits like savings account, insurance and pension.

This way you will get 10 thousand rupees

Under Jan Dhan Yojana, you will get overdraft facility of up to Rs 10,000 even if there is no balance in your account. This facility is like a short term loan. To avail the overdraft facility, your Jan Dhan account should be at least 6 months old. If this is not the case, only overdraft of up to Rs 2 thousand is available. The maximum age limit for overdraft facility in this account is 65 years.

On availing overdraft facility, you have to pay nominal interest to the bank. But with this, the minor needs of low income group customers are easily fulfilled. They don’t have to extend their hands to anyone. You can use this money without taking the hassle of making any additional documents and files.

How to open an account

To open Jan Dhan account, you must have Aadhar card and PAN card. The minimum age for opening an account is 10 years. Not only this, you can also convert your old savings account into Jan Dhan.

These facilities are available in Jan Dhan account

  • On opening an account under this scheme, you get Rupay ATM card, accident insurance cover of Rs 2 lakh, life cover of Rs 30 thousand and interest on the deposited amount.
  • You also get the facility of overdraft of Rs 10,000 if you have zero balance.
  • Immediately after opening the account, you can avail the benefit of overdraft of Rs 2000.
  • This account can be opened in any bank.
  • In this you do not have to maintain minimum balance.
